The Scagner mixing glass in two lines
This is the Scagner tall mixing glass of 860ml, made by hand by Murano glassmakers: 110mm across by 230mm tall, with laser engraved decoration.
Who it is for
For anyone who wants the showpiece of the station. It is the largest and the tallest in the range, and the only one made by hand: no two vessels are identical, and on an object that stands in full view that is exactly the point.
Eight hundred and sixty millilitres, and what they allow
Batching. With ice to two thirds there are nearly 300ml of liquid left, which is three or four cocktails stirred in one rotation. When a table order comes in for four Negronis, making them together in the Scagner and distributing them into glasses already set out is the difference between two minutes and six, and the four drinks come out identical instead of similar.

- Weight: 600g
- Making: handmade in Murano, laser engraved
- Material: thick glass
The thickness does two jobs
The first is strength: thick glass takes the knocks and the thermal swings that are normal in a mixing vessel, because ice below zero goes into it after it has been washed in hot water. The second is thermal: the chilled mass of glass stays cold and gives temperature back to the liquid instead of taking it away, so the drink chills sooner and stays cold while it is strained.
A tall vessel wants a long spoon
Two hundred and thirty millimetres is 70mm more than the standard format, and with a 30cm bar spoon your hand ends up close to the liquid. The right spoon here is the 45cm, which lets you hold the grip high and turn the stem between your fingers without going near the ice.
The laser engraving
It is cut after forming, so the pattern can be fine without weakening the body: that is the difference from moulded working, where the motif is part of the thickness. On a piece as tall as the Scagner it matters, because the parts that take the knocks are the rim and the side, and a surface engraving takes no material away where it counts. The relief, as on every worked model, also gives grip to a hand wet with condensation.
Handmade means different tolerances
Two pieces can have slightly different thicknesses and small irregularities in the glass: those are not faults, they are the signature of hand work. Anyone after a row of perfectly identical vessels buys an industrial piece; anyone who wants the object that gets noticed on the bar takes this one, knowing it is unique in its imperfections too.
Care
Dishwasher permitted but with attention: tall, heavy and handmade, in a full basket it is the first to take the knocks. Anyone keeping it in view washes it by hand and dries it with a linen cloth, because on a showpiece limescale marks show exactly where they should not.
