The Kita mixing glass in two lines
A 700ml mixing glass in cut glass with diamond grooves, 110mm across by 160mm tall, weighing 600g.
Who it is for
For anyone who wants the piece that shows most. Diamond cut is the deepest of the workings in the line, so it is also the one throwing back the most reflections when the bar light catches it from the side.
What diamond cut is
A working of crossed incisions forming a grid of pyramid faces. Each face sends the light in a different direction, and the result is the brilliance associated with cut crystal. On a mixing vessel there is also the usual practical gain: the relief gives grip to a hand wet with condensation, and with a cut as deep as the Kita’s the grip is the best in the category.

The downside of a deep cut
It holds more. In a deep incision the sugar residue of a syrup stops and dries, and at that point only a brush takes it out, not a dishwasher cycle. That is the one extra attention this model asks against a plain one, and it is solved by rinsing straight after service instead of leaving it to wait for the cycle.
How to spot glass made properly
Three signs, and you can check them in the shop. The rim must be even and finished, without the sharp thread left by rushed work. The base must be thick and flat, because that is what holds the cold and the stability. And the body, held to the light, must show no bubbles or obvious waves in the thickness: uneven glass breaks sooner when it meets a temperature swing, and in a mixing vessel swings are the norm. The Kita sits in the band where those three points are looked after.
How to fill it and how to stir
Ice to two thirds of the height, ingredients after, a 300mm bar spoon. The spoon turns between thumb and forefinger with the bowl resting against the wall: you move the spoon, not the arm. The sign the work is done is the frost rising on the outside, not a count of turns.
Care
Dishwasher allowed and loaded with space around it, but with the rule of rinsing at once because of the incisions. No scouring pads: on worked glass an abrasive leaves micro scratches that dull exactly the faces meant to reflect, and at that point the piece loses the reason it was chosen.
FAQ
What pattern does the Kita carry? Diamond cut grooves, the deepest cut of the line.
How much does it hold? Seven hundred millilitres, in a body 160mm tall.
Is a deep cut harder to clean? It holds syrups more: rinse it straight after use.
Which bar spoon does it need? The 300mm one, which reaches the base of 160mm of height.
How many drinks at once? Two stirred with ice to two thirds; for three or four you want a larger vessel.
Is diamond cut more fragile? No, strength depends on the thickness of the body: the incision is shallow and takes no material from where it counts.
The more you buy, the less you pay: 4 pieces -5%, 6 -7%, 8 -10%, on the same item.
