The Alchemy jigger in two lines
The Alchemy is a double jigger in stainless steel, marked inside and available in three sizes: 30/45, 30/60 and 60/90ml. Depending on the size, the markings show 10, 15, 20, 30, 45, 60 and 90ml, and it weighs 100g.
Who it is for
For bars that need large measures as well as small ones. It is the only jigger in the category offered in a 60/90 size, and that size solves a real problem: in long drinks and serves for two, the base often goes over 60ml, and with a jigger that stops at 60 you pour twice.
The 60/90 size, and why it is rare
Most specs stop at two ounces. But as soon as you work on long drinks, serves for two or small pre-batches, the measures go up, and with a normal jigger you end up counting two fills per spirit. Two fills are two chances of error instead of one, and two moves instead of one. The Alchemy in its large size pours up to 90ml in one go, which is why it is worth keeping next to a standard jigger.

The markings, size by size
The 30/45 marks 10, 15, 20, 30 and 45ml; the 30/60 marks 10, 20, 30, 45 and 60; the 60/90 marks 30, 45, 60 and 90. They are different lists and worth checking before you choose, because the real difference between the three is not the top capacity but which measures you can pour to the brim and which need reading a line. The first are repeatable by anyone, the second depend on how you look.
Which size to choose
The 30/45 if your specs are written in centilitres, the 30/60 if they are in ounces, the 60/90 as a second jigger for long drinks and double serves. If you are buying only one, do not take the 60/90: small measures in a large cup are hard to read, and the Alchemy in that size is made to sit next to another jigger, not to replace it.
How to measure
Fill to the brim when the measure matches the cup, and read a marking only when there is no other way. The brim leaves nothing to judge: the cup is either full or it is not, and two people get the same measure without agreeing on it. That is why, on a bar with several bartenders, the size should be chosen on the measures poured most often.
Two jiggers instead of one
A precise station keeps two: one set to the main measures and one for the rest. Small measures read at the bottom of a large cup are a thin layer of liquid, and two pours that look the same can differ quite a lot; the same measures in a cup made for them reach the brim, and the brim leaves nothing to judge. The Alchemy in 60/90 is the natural second jigger, the one for large measures.
The more you buy, the less you pay: 4 pieces -5%, 6 -7%, 8 -10%, on the same item.
Care
Rinse straight away and dry. A soft bottle brush now and then keeps the inside of the cup clean, so the full volume is there and the inside markings stay easy to read.
