The ice maker in two lines
The Arktic ice maker is a countertop machine that makes hollow bullet cubes with no water connection: fill the tank, switch on and the first batch comes out in 8 to 13 minutes. It makes up to 12kg in 24 hours, holds 0.7kg in the basket and alerts you when the water runs out or the basket is full. Stainless steel and ABS body, 36cm wide, 7.5kg, 100W. The scoop is included.
Who it is for
For the venue without a plumbed-in ice machine that gets by on bagged ice: the kiosk, the small bar, the outdoor station at an event, a hotel’s breakfast counter. And for the home bartender who finds four cubes in the freezer every time. With no water connection it goes wherever it is needed; all it takes is a socket.
It does not replace a 30 or 50kg bar ice machine: twelve kilos a day is the ice for a quiet evening, not for the rush. If you use more, look at the 15kg professional ice machine with a 4.5kg reserve, or a machine with a water connection.

Twelve kilos a day: how many drinks an ice maker makes
A highball takes 100-150g of cubes, and a shaken drink uses another 100g in the shaker. Twelve kilos in 24 hours is therefore 60-80 full drinks, if the machine runs all day and the basket is emptied into the ice well as it fills. That is the number to compare with your night: a forty-drink aperitivo hour is covered, a two-hundred-drink night is not.
The cubes are hollow bullets: they chill quickly and melt slowly, and they are the ones the electric ice crusher takes. Cooling is static with a compressor, and the refrigerant is R600a.

The 0.7kg basket, which is the real limit
The basket is not refrigerated: the ice in it melts slowly and the water returns to the tank, and when the basket is full the machine stops. To get 12kg a day you need to empty it into the ice well on the bar every hour or two. That is the rule for every machine of this size: build your stock during the day, not during service.
Choose the ice maker if
If you need ice where there is no water connection or a fixed machine is not worth it, and the night’s drinks run to a few dozen. If they run to more, or if you want a reserve that covers an hour of peak service without emptying, move up to the 15kg machine. If you need crushed ice, the ice maker makes the right cubes for the ice crusher.
Cleaning
Rinse the tank and basket with water and dry them. Every two weeks, run a cycle with water and a measure of vinegar, then two cycles of clean water: limescale on the cooling fingers is what slows the machine down.
