For bars with little depth and a lot of frontage. It is 70cm long and only 10cm wide, so it covers the line where glasses and bottles go down without taking the depth you need to work.
Behind the bar
The narrow strip is the most common format on long bars, and the reason is practical. A 20cm-wide mat under the prep area makes you work on a raised surface, while a 10cm one sits in front, catches the drips from freshly poured glasses and leaves the bar top behind it clear.
The reinforced edge is the detail that decides how long it lasts. It is where the mat is picked up to be lifted and rinsed, dozens of times a week, and where cheap mats start to tear. With a strengthened edge, the daily handling does not wear it out.

Narrow or wide
The 70 x 10 is for the front of the bar, under the line of glasses. If you need to stand shakers and mixing glasses on it while you work, you need a deeper format such as the 60 x 20.
Care
Natural rubber takes high temperatures, so it goes in the dishwasher without trouble. If you rinse it by hand, turn it over: the liquid it catches sits underneath, and if it stays there it starts to smell.
