The Giove jigger in two lines
The Giove is a two-cup jigger measuring 30 and 60ml, in stainless steel with the lines of period drinking. It weighs 200g, which is a lot for a jigger, and comes in five plated finishes.
Who it is for
For bartenders working on classics who want a tool with weight in the hand. 30 and 60ml are one ounce and two, the two measures the American repertoire is built on, and also the measures most drinks on any list are made with.
200g, and why it is not a detail
A light jigger wobbles when you set it down and slides if you knock it; a heavy one stays where you put it. The Giove sits at the heavy end of the category, with a declared weight of 200g against the 40 to 60g of most two-cup jiggers, and you feel the difference at two moments: when you set it down full on the bar top without having to hold it, and when you tip it, because the mass helps the move instead of asking for control. It is also why the supplier describes it as balanced.

One and two ounces
The two cups match the measures of American recipe books with the rounding the trade has always used: a fluid ounce is 29.57ml, and 30 is the round number the whole of Europe works with. The gap is half a millilitre per measure, invisible in a drink and relevant only to batches of dozens of serves.
The five finishes are plated
That means washing by hand: industrial dishwasher cycles attack the coating and dull it in patches, for good. Choose the colour by looking at the light on your own bar at nine in the evening, not at the catalogue photo, because gold, copper and bronze come alive under warm light and go flat under white light.
Choose the Giove if
You like a tool you can feel in the hand, your station is in full view and you want a jigger in keeping with a list of classics, or you work from recipes in ounces. If you want maximum precision on small measures, a tall, narrow two-cup jigger measures more repeatably, because in a narrow cup the same filling error is worth less volume.
How to measure with a two-cup jigger
Fill it to the rim and tip it in one go, holding the jigger low over the tin. The rim is a measure nobody has to interpret: the cup is either full or it is not, which is why two different people get the same measure without agreeing on it. Hold the jigger high and pour from a distance and you lose a few drops every time; over two hundred drinks a night, those drops become bottles.
Care
Rinse straight away, wash by hand with mild soap and dry at once. Syrup drying inside the cup leaves a film that over time reduces the usable volume, and on a jigger that is a fault nobody notices until the drinks start coming out different.
