The Iron jigger measure in brief
The Bars Iron jigger is an AISI 304 stainless steel measure for 15, 30, 45 and 60ml. It is shaped like a small mixing tin, with a diamond-cut wall and a mirror polish, and belongs to the Iron line, the same as the double-walled mixing tin.
Who it is for
Bartenders who measure with the jigger standing on the bar top rather than held in the air. A double-ended jigger has to be flipped to change measure, held between pours and drips on the bar when it is put down. The Iron jigger has a flat base and stands between one ingredient and the next, so the free hand reaches for the next bottle. On a five-ingredient spec that is four set-downs gained.
It also suits bars that keep their GP in line with written specs: four measures in one body cover almost every line of a cocktail menu, from 15ml of bitter to 60ml of base spirit.

The diamond cut is not just decoration
The diamond pattern on the wall is the same as on a Japanese mixing glass, and behind the bar it does a specific job: it gives wet fingers grip. A smooth measure, with hands damp from ice and juice, slips at the worst moment, which is mid-pour. On the cut surface the grip holds without drying your hands, which nobody does during the rush.
The mirror polish matches the rest of the Iron line: with the mixing tin, the same cut and the same shine sit on the bar, and the station looks put together rather than assembled piece by piece.

How many jiggers per station
Two per bartender, not one. A measure that has poured syrup or a coloured amaro leaves a residue you can taste in the gin of the next drink, and nobody stops mid-ticket to rinse it. Two identical measures let you work without thinking about it, and the second stays clean for the clear spirits.
The more you buy, the less you pay: 4 pieces -5%, 6 -7%, 8 -10%, on the same item.
The Iron jigger and pouring by eye
Bartenders who pour by eye say it is faster, and for one drink it is. Over a hundred drinks it is not: a hand pour varies by five or six millilitres each time, and on a 60ml spirit measure that difference is a tenth of a bottle every ten drinks. With the Iron jigger the measure is the same every round, the GP comes back to the figure on the spec sheet, and the drink a guest had last Saturday is the one they find the Saturday after.
The Iron jigger alongside the others
Double-ended jiggers, held in the hand and flipped, are in the jigger category, in every combination of measures. The mixing tin from the same line is in the mixing glass category.
Care
Rinse with hot water after every thick ingredient and wash at the end of service with mild detergent. Dry with a soft cloth to keep the mirror polish free of limescale marks. Use a soft sponge, never a scourer.
