The matt black cocktail set in two lines
The Bars matt black cocktail set brings together twelve pieces in stainless steel with the same matt black finish: three shakers of different types, a mixing tin, a Hawthorne strainer, three Japanese style jiggers with their tray, a 45cm bar spoon and a bottle opener. It covers shaking, stirring and building with one set of equipment, bought in a single order.

Who matt black is for
For the evening cocktail bar, the speakeasy, the hotel bar with a dark counter and low lights. Matt black does not throw back the reflections of the spotlights and leaves the stage to the drink. The typical drinks list is the evening classics: Negroni and Manhattan in the mixing tin, Daiquiri and Whiskey Sour in the shaker, Old Fashioned built in the glass.
For the bartender buying for themselves, the cocktail set gives the equipment of a professional station, matched in finish, without hunting for twelve pieces across twelve different pages.

Why these twelve pieces belong together
Shaking, with three different shakers
The three shakers are not duplicates. The Boston, the 28oz tin sealed into the 20oz half tin, is the shaker for fast service: it seals with one strike, breaks with one strike and is strained with the Hawthorne. The 900ml Parisienne has the capacity for two drinks at a time. The 500ml cobbler has the strainer in the cap: it is the shaker for someone new to the team, or for a single drink when the Hawthorne is already busy on the other tin.
Stirring and building
The 600ml mixing tin is the vessel for stirred drinks. The 45cm bar spoon reaches the bottom even with the tin full of ice, and the Hawthorne sits on the rim to strain into the glass. For built drinks the bar spoon works straight in the serving glass, and the jiggers give the measure.
Measuring, with three jiggers
Three Japanese style jiggers cover the measures most used on a drinks list, 15, 30, 45 and 60ml, without pouring twice. The tray keeps the jiggers off the wet bar top and always in the same spot, so the hand finds them without looking. The right measure in every drink keeps the GP where it was costed.
What the cocktail set leaves out
The fine strainer, the fine mesh strainer for a fine strain (double strain): the Hawthorne does the first strain, and the fine strainer is bought separately. There is no muddler, julep strainer, pourers, ice tongs or glassware. The set has no bag or case.
The jiggers are for cocktail specs, in 15ml steps: they are not stamped measures for single spirits, which in Great Britain are served in 25ml or 35ml.
The cocktail set during service
At peak service on a Saturday the set-up is what counts: every piece in the same place, and the same shaker at every station. With twelve pieces from the same line, the bartender coming on shift finds the same sizes and the same weight in the hand.
Every piece in the set is also sold on its own, in the same finish. If a jigger goes missing at the end of the night, you reorder one and the station stays matched. For replacements, and for anyone fitting out several stations: the more you buy, the less you pay, 4 pieces -5%, 6 -7%, 8 -10%, on the same item.
Care of the matt black finish
The supplier does not declare whether it is dishwasher safe. We recommend washing by hand with a mild detergent and a soft sponge, no scourers, and drying straight away: water left to dry on its own leaves limescale marks, which show on matt black. The tins are separated by hand, without striking them on the edge of the bar counter.
