The 160kg/h ice crusher in two lines
The BarUp ice crusher is a countertop machine 52.5cm tall, with the 3 litre stainless steel bowl on top and the outlet chute at the front. The stainless steel blades turn at 1000rpm, the 200W motor is fan-cooled and the body is die-cast aluminium. A full bowl of ice becomes crushed ice in about 35 seconds, and the manufacturer declares an output of 160kg per hour.
Who this commercial ice crusher is for
For venues where crushed ice is not an exception on the drinks list but part of service: tiki bars, cocktail bars with juleps, caipirinhas, swizzles and mojitos on the menu, summer kiosks, granitas and iced coffees. For hotels with a pool bar, and for catering serving drinks over crushed ice at a reception. When the bar is three deep, crushed ice goes by the bucket, and the machine has to keep up without stopping to cool down.
It is the step up from the 12kg per hour electric ice crusher, which works in batches with a 70W motor. The BarUp has 200W against 70, a stainless steel bowl instead of the clear container, and a fan-cooled motor.

160kg per hour: what it means at the bar
The figure that matters is the time per bowl. Fill the 3 litre bowl with cubes, close the lid, and in about 35 seconds crushed ice comes out of the chute, straight into the bucket or the ice well. The manufacturer declares that the fan-cooled motor handles a full bowl without overheating: the stock for the night is made in a few minutes, and topped up during service when needed.
Crushed ice chills fast and dilutes fast, which is why a julep is served full to the brim. It does not replace the cube from the ice machine, it transforms it: the machine makes the cubes, the ice crusher crushes them when they are needed, instead of keeping them crushed in the well to melt.
How it is built
The bowl is stainless steel with a 0.8mm wall, and the blades are stainless steel too. The body that houses the motor is die-cast aluminium, not plastic. The lid is hinged and has a safety microswitch: open the lid and the motor stops. Water protection is IP23, against the splashes of a back bar, not against a direct jet.

Where it goes
The base takes up 18.9 x 34.4cm and the machine is 52.5cm tall with the lid closed: it goes on the back bar or a side counter, not under a low wall cabinet. The cable is 2m long and the machine runs on 230V. The chute faces whoever is working, with the bucket underneath.

Choose this ice crusher if
If you crush ice with a bag and a mallet and it takes a quarter of an hour of prep every night, or if your small crusher stops halfway through the night because it overheats. If drinks over crushed ice are a few dozen a week, the 12kg per hour model is enough and costs less.
The more you buy, the less you pay: 4 pieces -5%, 6 -7%, 8 -10%, on the same item. The discount applies automatically in the basket.
