The 25ml/50ml jigger in two lines
This is a double-cup jigger with 25ml and 50ml measures in 18/10 stainless steel, in the Japanese style: a tall, narrow body instead of a short, wide one. It covers the 25ml and 50ml pours that are the spirit serve in much of Europe.
Who it is for
For bars that serve spirits neat as well as in cocktails. 25ml is the single pour of whisky or gin in much of Europe, and 50ml is the double: having both measures in one tool means one jigger for straight serves and for mixing.
The Japanese shape is not a style
A tall, narrow jigger measures better than a short, wide one, and the reason is geometry: for the same filling error, a narrow cup gives a smaller difference in volume, because the same millimetre of liquid takes up less space. In practice, two pours from the same hand come out closer to each other than they would in a wide cup. That is why the Japanese school made this shape the norm, and why most bars that care about consistency use it today.

25ml, the serve size
In the UK, gin, rum, vodka and whisky sold by the glass are served in 25ml or 35ml measures, and 25ml has spread to many European bars as the reference single pour. Working with a 25/50ml jigger means using the same measure your guests expect from a neat serve, and it is also the simplest way to keep track of the cost per glass. One point for UK bars: this jigger is for cocktail specs and is not a stamped measure for single spirits, which by law need a stamped measure or an optic.
How to hold it
Between index and middle finger, with the thumb just touching the rim of the opposite cup: this is the Japanese grip, and it lets you flip the jigger without changing your hold when you need the other measure. It sounds like a textbook detail, and it saves a few seconds on every drink, exactly the kind of time you gain or lose at peak service.
Choose this size if
You serve neat spirits as well as cocktails, you work to 25ml and 50ml pours, and you prefer the tall shape for accuracy. If your list follows specs in ounces or whole centilitres, the 30/60ml and 30/45ml sizes are more direct: the choice is about the right measure for your specs, not the best jigger.
The more you buy, the less you pay: 4 pieces -5%, 6 -7%, 8 -10%, on the same item.
Care
Rinse straight away and dry. A narrow cup dries more slowly than a wide one, so stand it upside down on a cloth rather than putting it back in the drawer damp: that keeps the base free of limescale and the measure true over time.
FAQ
