The conical olive bowls in two lines
The Friendly conical bowl is a piece of bar snack tableware by APS, the German manufacturer Assheuer + Pott: 6cm in diameter, 4cm high, 50ml capacity. The material is post-consumer recycled PET. It stacks, it goes in the dishwasher and it is sold in a pack of 6.
Who they are for
For the venue that sends drinks to the table with something to eat beside the glass. The conical shape has a small footprint and a tall wall: 6cm of tray space, 4cm of rim. On a tray already carrying four glasses a wide bowl does not fit. This one does.
The tall wall does a second job. Olives do not roll out when the tray tilts, and the portion that reaches the table is the one the operator decided. In peak service that is one thing less to tidy with your fingers before setting it down.

What fits in 50ml olive bowls
Fifty millilitres is a portion for one. As a guide to use, not a figure from the manufacturer: a handful of olives, peanuts or almonds, or a sauce beside something fried. For two guests, two bowls go down, and the portion count stays simple for whoever sets up the pass.
Next to the other two 50ml shapes in the range, the 7.5cm round and the 6.5cm square, the conical bowl is the narrowest and the tallest. It is the one to choose when the problem is space on the tray or on a small table, and when what goes inside tends to roll.

Recycled PET, and what changes on the tray
APS declares post-consumer recycled PET for the Friendly collection: plastic that has already had a first use, is recovered and comes back as tableware. At the end of its life it can be recycled again. For the person carrying the trays the fact that matters is another one: it is rigid plastic, not porcelain and not glass. If a bowl slides off the tray between two tables, it is picked up and goes back to the wash. There are no shards to look for under the chairs and no stopping for the broom.
The same holds for the monthly bill. Small porcelain is the tableware a venue loses most, because it chips in the rack and ends up in the bag with the napkins. A PET bowl costs less to replace, and Friendly is a continuing range in the APS catalogue: in eight months the same shape can be reordered under the same code.
Care
The manufacturer declares the bowls dishwasher safe and not suitable for the microwave. They are not made for heating: anything served hot is warmed elsewhere and poured in afterwards. Between washes they stack one inside the other, which is also declared, and on the back bar a stack takes the footprint of a single bowl.
Six to a pack
The pack holds six bowls and the price is for the pack. Six cover three tables of two. A venue that sends out twenty rounds of drinks and snacks at once keeps at least four packs, so one set is on the tables while the other is in the wash.
The more you buy, the less you pay: 4 packs -5%, 6 -7%, 8 -10%, on the same item. The discount applies automatically in the basket.
White or black
White works as a background for what is inside: the green of an olive and the red of a sauce read from a distance, and the bowl sits with any plate. On slate boards and dark tops it stands out. The same shape comes in black, and the trays for bar garnishes are in the garnish trays and condiment holders category.
At home
For drinks with friends, the conical bowl suits the low table in front of the sofa, where glasses and a bottle leave little room. One each, with olives or almonds, and at the end of the evening they all go in the dishwasher with the glasses.
