The 53cm cheese board in two lines
The Kesper cheese board is a rectangular board in acacia wood, 53 x 19cm and 2cm thick, with no handle. It is the large size in the long series: half a metre of surface, for the centre of the table. It is sold singly.
Who it is for
For the wine shop with a cheese tasting paired with wines on the menu: six pieces in a row, each with its glass. For the wine bar that serves a board for four and wants it long, to set in the centre of a rectangular table. For the restaurant that brings the cheese trolley and cuts in front of the guest. For the hotel that sets up the evening buffet on several matching boards.
At home it is the board for the end of dinner: whole cheeses, the knife beside them, and everyone cuts their own piece.

Why this cheese board is half a metre long
A tasting has an order: from the fresh cheese to the mature, with the blue at the end. On a round plate the order is lost. On 53cm of length each piece has its place, and the floor team talks the guest through it from left to right, pointing with the hand.
Between one cheese and the next there is room for what goes with them: chutney, honey, nuts. The small bowls sit on the board and not on the table, which is already taken up by the glasses.
The thickness is 2cm, half a centimetre more than the small size. A long, thin board flexes when it is lifted loaded by both ends. Two centimetres keep it flat on the way from the kitchen to the table.
The 19cm width sits in the centre of a table for four without touching the place settings. The glasses stay in front of each guest, and everyone reaches the board by stretching out a hand.

Cheese and cured meats on the same board
Soft cheeses and blues leave smell and fat on the wood. Those who run many tastings keep a few boards for these alone, and tell them apart by a mark on the back. For cured meats, which are served at the table already sliced, the same series has the 38 x 14.5cm size, which fits on tables for two.
How many to order
A cheese board this size stays on the table for a long time, often for the whole bottle. The count is done on the tables for four, plus two or three boards in reserve. For a buffet they are set in a row on the buffet table, and it is better to have them all one size: the display looks orderly and the team refills them without thinking about what goes where.
The more you buy, the less you pay: 4 pieces -5%, 6 -7%, 8 -10%, on the same item. The discount applies automatically in the basket.
Care of the wood
Wash the wood by hand, in lukewarm water with a little washing-up liquid, and dry it straight away with a cloth. It does not go in the dishwasher and is not left to soak in the sink: hot water and a long cycle make it swell and warp.
When the surface turns pale and feels dry, wipe on a thin coat of food-safe oil with a cloth, let it soak in and remove the excess. It takes a few minutes and belongs in the end-of-month clean.
This board has no hole: after washing it is stood upright, on its edge, and stacked only when dry.
Choose this if
You serve tastings or groups and want a long cheese board that sets the pieces in a row. Those who prefer a grip can look at the series with a handle, in the 45 x 22cm size. The other models are in the boards and knives category.
