The 38cm acacia serving board in two lines
The Kesper acacia serving board of 38 x 14.5cm is a long, narrow rectangular board, 1.5cm thick, with no handle and no holes. The whole surface is usable. It is sold singly, and has a larger sister of 53 x 19cm.
Who it is for
For the wine shop and the wine bar with small tables, where a wide board leaves no room for the glasses. For the cocktail bar that serves at the bar counter: 14.5cm of depth sits between the guest and the edge without reaching into the bar station. For the restaurant that brings three or four tasters in a row, one beside the other, to be read from left to right.
At home it is the board for a cheese tasting or for canapes: narrow, it sits on the coffee table with the glasses.

Why a long, narrow acacia serving board
The table space in a venue that serves wine is already taken: two glasses, the bottle or the wine cooler, the water. A square board takes the centre and pushes everything else towards the edges. A board 14.5cm wide goes across the table or along one side, and the glasses stay where they are.
The long shape puts the food in sequence. On 38cm there is room for four or five separate tasters in a row, from the mildest to the strongest. It is how a cheese tasting is presented, and the guest follows it in the order intended by whoever arranged it.
With no handle, no part of the board is left empty. It is carried on a tray or resting on the forearm, like a long plate. In the store room twenty flat boards make a stack of thirty centimetres.
The grain of the acacia alternates light and dark bands along the length. Each board has its own pattern: the size is the same for all, the wood is not.

Acacia serving board with a handle or without
Kesper also makes the series with a handle and strap in acacia. The difference is in the service. The board with a handle is carried in one hand and hung up: it suits venues where the team makes many trips. The board without a handle gives more surface for the same footprint and stacks: it suits venues where space on the table and in the store room is short. The nearest size to this one, with a handle, is the 35 x 18cm.
How many to order
One acacia serving board for each table in use in the early evening, plus a reserve for the changeover: washed wood does not go back on the floor until it is dry. Those who use them for tastings keep a few aside for cheese only, so smells do not pass from one service to the next.
The more you buy, the less you pay: 4 pieces -5%, 6 -7%, 8 -10%, on the same item. The discount applies automatically in the basket.
Care of the wood
Wash the wood by hand, in lukewarm water with a little washing-up liquid, and dry it straight away with a cloth. It does not go in the dishwasher and is not left to soak in the sink: hot water and a long cycle make it swell and warp.
When the surface turns pale and feels dry, wipe on a thin coat of food-safe oil with a cloth, let it soak in and remove the excess. It takes a few minutes and belongs in the end-of-month clean.
Boards with no hole are not hung up: after washing they are stood upright, on their edge, until dry. Only then are they stacked.
Choose this if
You have small tables or serve at the bar and need an acacia serving board that does not take the place of the glasses. For the table of four there is the long board, 53 x 19cm. The other models are in the boards and knives category.
