The ice bucket stand in two lines
The Bars ice bucket stand is a pedestal in polished stainless steel tube: 73cm high, with a 22cm ring at the top and three curved feet opening to a 35cm base. The bucket drops into the ring and hangs beside the table, at hand height. The table stays free for plates and glasses.
Who it is for
For the restaurant and wine bar that serve the bottle at the table and leave it on ice. On a table for two, a bucket takes the space of a plate; on the stand, the waiter pours, puts the bottle back and the table stays as it was. For hotels and receptions, for the sparkling wine of the toast beside the top table. For the lounge bar, for bottle service at the sofa, where a low table cannot take the bucket.

How the ice bucket stand is made
Three steel tubes rise in parallel, held by two intermediate rings, and open outwards at the top: these are the arms that take the bucket. At the bottom the same tubes spread into three curved feet ending in a ball, so the base touches the floor at three points and does not rock on uneven tiles. The maker’s catalogue gives the top ring as 22cm, the height as 73cm and the base as 35cm.
Seventy-three centimetres is the height of a restaurant table: the bottle is where the waiter reaches for it without bending, and the guest can see it.

Which bucket fits
The 22cm ring takes buckets with a 21.5cm mouth, such as the Classic Line ice bucket from the same line, polished like the stand. A bucket wider than 22cm will not go in; one much narrower sits too low. If you take both pieces, the ice bucket with stand kit costs less.
Where the ice bucket stand goes
Place the stand on the side of the table the waiter uses, not where the guest sits: that way the wine is poured without reaching over plates or asking to pass. At tables against the wall, it goes at the corner. Between one table and the next it needs the width of its base, 35cm: in narrow rooms, try the route with the empty stand before service.
Tubular or heavy
The Bars also makes a stand in its Heavy line, 3kg with a solid base. The tubular one is lighter and moves with one hand from table to table during service, which is what a room needs when the layout changes between lunch and dinner. For a windy terrace, or a magnum bucket, look at the heavy one.
Care
Wipe with a damp cloth and dry, which removes the condensation that runs down from the bucket. No scourers on mirror-polished steel.
