The 350ml red squeeze bottle in two lines

This is the 350ml red squeeze bottle: a pressure dispenser with a narrow tip, giving around an eighth of an ounce a squeeze. The large size in the range, in the most used colour on the bar.

Who it is for

For anyone with a syrup that runs out every night. At 350 millilitres this is the size for the product that moves most, usually sugar syrup.

The narrow tip is the part that counts

Giving around an eighth of an ounce a squeeze turns the pressure of the hand into a unit of measure: two squeezes are a quarter, four are half an ounce. It does not replace the jigger on recipes that call for one, but on corrections, where the difference is a few millilitres, counting squeezes is faster and steadier than free pouring from a bottle.

The gain and the risk of the large size

The gain is that you do not refill it mid service, so the decanting happens in prep, when things are calm and the bench is clean. The risk is that a little used syrup in a large vessel sits open for weeks: it takes in air at every squeeze and at some point it turns. So the 350ml red squeeze bottle goes on the right product, which is the high turnover one, and it is not filled just because there is room.

Why the red one is red

Because in a line of identical dispensers you reach for the wrong bottle. Giving each product a colour is the quickest way to pick up the right one without reading the label: through a full service the hand goes before the eye has read. Red, in most venues, ends up on sugar syrup or grenadine, by immediate association.

The condition for the count to work

That the pressure is always the same. A squeeze given in a hurry and one given fully do not deliver the same amount, and the gain in consistency disappears: it is the first thing to sort out when a drink comes out sweeter than usual with nobody having changed the recipe. Check it against a jigger once, take the measure, and from then on repeat that gesture.

The tip wants keeping clean

Dried syrup on the tip narrows it, and from that moment the count is calibrated on a dose that no longer exists. It is a fault you cannot see: the bottle looks the same, the gesture is the same, but five millilitres come out instead of four. A rinse of the tip at the end of the shift is what keeps the whole system honest.

Care

Empty and wash completely at every change of product, tip included. Sugar syrups leave a film that feeds mould, so the bottle wants washing and drying properly, not just rinsing. Anyone keeping the same product for weeks still does a full wash on a set schedule, and decants into a clean bottle rather than topping up the old one.

Where it sits in the line

Next to the working hand, always in the same position, together with the other corrections. A dispenser moved twenty centimetres costs a glance on every drink, and it is the same principle that stops anyone reordering the bottles in a speed rail on their own initiative: the position is decided once and then left alone.

When a second one is worth it

When the product is used so much that it runs out mid service anyway. In that case keep a second 350ml red squeeze bottle already filled under the counter and change it in two seconds, instead of decanting with your hands full. It is the cheapest answer there is, and also the one nobody adopts until it happens to them.

FAQ

How much does the 350ml red squeeze bottle hold? Three hundred and fifty millilitres.

How much comes out per squeeze? Around an eighth of an ounce, so two squeezes make a quarter.

Does it replace the jigger? No, recipes that call for a jigger want a jigger: this is for corrections.

Which product suits it? The high turnover one, usually sugar syrup.

What is the colour for? Picking up the right bottle without reading the label.

Why does the dose change over time? Because dried syrup narrows the tip: it wants rinsing.

The more you buy, the less you pay: 4 pieces -5%, 6 -7%, 8 -10%, on the same item.
