The airtight bottle in two lines
This is a glass bottle of 500ml with an airtight swing top, clip and gasket, 250mm tall and 60mm across: it stands up in a fridge, seals properly and survives the trip to the customer’s door.
Who it is for
For anyone who bottles. That covers service premixes, syrups and infusions, and it covers cocktail delivery, which is the work this bottle is most often bought for: 500ml is around five 90ml servings, a format to share between two or to pour into four small glasses.
How a swing top closure works
The airtight cap does not screw on: it is set in place and locked by a lever that presses the gasket against the lip of the glass. The advantage is that the closing pressure is always the same and does not depend on how hard the person closing it squeezes, and on a bottle that opens and closes twenty times an evening that is the difference between a constant seal and a gasket crushed on one side.

Air is the problem, not the liquid
A half empty bottle holds half a litre of air, and that air works against the preparation the whole time: it oxidises citrus, flattens the volatile aromas of infusions and turns the colour. An airtight cap does not remove the air already inside, but it stops it being replaced over and over every time the bottle is opened and moved. For delicate preparations it pays to decant into a smaller format as the level drops, rather than keeping half a litre of air above two fingers of syrup.
Washing, and where it goes wrong
The glass body goes into the dishwasher with no trouble. The clip and the gasket do not: they come off and are washed by hand, because heat and harsh detergents harden the rubber, and a hardened gasket no longer seals. It is the only maintenance this bottle asks for, and it wants doing every time, not now and then. Put the gasket back dry, because fitted wet it stays squashed and takes a crease that does not come out.
Sixty millimetres across, and why that counts
Because it decides whether the bottle stands in a fridge door and how many fit on a shelf. Two hundred and fifty millimetres tall by sixty across is a tall, narrow proportion: it takes little frontage, lines up next to the others and the label reads without pulling it out. On the bar counter the advantage is that the narrow neck pours without splashing even when full, which a wide vessel does not.
If you use it for delivery
Bottle the drink cold and fill almost to the neck, because the less air stays inside the less the drink moves in transit. Label it with the name of the drink and the date, plus a line on how to serve it: into a glass full of ice, or neat if the recipe already carries its dilution. That is the detail that separates a considered delivery from liquid in a bottle.
