The Ballon 650ml in Tritan in two lines
The Goldplast Ballon is a 650ml stemmed glass in clear Tritan, with a round bowl. It is sold in packs of six. The maker declares it unbreakable and washable up to 350 times in a commercial glass washer.
The glass is 21.6cm tall. The bowl reaches 11cm at its widest point and closes to 7.7cm at the rim.
Who balloon glasses in plastic are for
For venues that serve spritz and gin and tonic on the terrace, by the pool and on the beach. The balloon is the glass of the summer aperitivo, and in summer the aperitivo is served outside: exactly where glass breaks most often.
For caterers and outdoor events, where balloon glasses pass through many hands and end up on poseur tables. The one that falls is picked up, washed and goes back in the rack.
At home it is the glass for a spritz in the garden.

The round bowl
The round bowl holds the ice and leaves room for the drink on top. The rim, narrower than the belly, gathers the aromas and keeps the spritz sparkling for longer. The long stem keeps the hand away from the cold bowl.
Among the Goldplast balloons this is the middle size: larger than the 580ml Ballon Mix, smaller than the 860ml Ballon Gin.
The glass chilled before service
Tritan takes the fridge and temperatures down to -20°C. The glasses go in to chill before opening, as with glass, and come out when the first round of aperitivi arrives. Ice lasts longer in a glass that is already cold, and the spritz stays sparkling to the last sip.
Tritan
Goldplast rates Tritan high transparency, free of bisphenol A and of formaldehyde: the colour of the spritz shows as it would in a glass goblet. It takes up to 350 cycles in a commercial glass washer with liquid chlorinated detergent and neutral rinse aid.

650ml
650ml is the brim-full capacity. A 3-2-1 spritz with ice up to half the bowl stays well below the rim, and the orange slice sits inside without sticking out. A gin and tonic with 200ml of tonic fits with all its ice.
The pack of six
Balloon glasses are counted in packs: five are 30 glasses, the aperitivo for a terrace for one evening. A reorder is the same item with the same code.
The more you buy, the less you pay: 4 packs -5%, 6 -7%, 8 -10%, on the same item. The discount applies automatically in the basket.
Care
In a glass washer with liquid chlorinated detergent and neutral rinse aid, as the maker indicates. No microwave and no oven. By hand, a soft sponge keeps the wall clear.
Plastic gin glasses FAQ
Are they glass? No. They are Tritan, a BPA free rigid plastic, as clear as glass.
How do they differ from the Ballon Gin? The Ballon Gin has a bigger 860ml bowl, for a gin and tonic with a lot of ice. This 650ml one is the spritz glass.
Do they break if dropped? The maker declares them unbreakable: dropped, they do not shatter.
How many glasses are in a pack? Six. The price is for the pack.
To compare all the rigid plastic models, see the unbreakable glasses category.
