The Carrara tasting glass in two lines
A 300ml old fashioned glass in lead-free Luxion crystal, 94mm tall, sold in packs of two. It is the short format of the family, the one on the border with the single rocks, and the one best suited to a spirit drunk slowly.
Who it is for
For anyone tasting rather than serving. The pack of two is the real difference against the rest of the category, and it is not a commercial detail: it is a different use. A venue buys in sixes or twelves because glasses break and have to be replaced, and cost per glass is the first line it looks at. Anyone buying two is buying for themselves or as a gift, and then what counts is how the single glass reads in the hand and on the table.
Why 300ml and not 400
Three hundred millilitres puts this glass at the low edge of the double old fashioned, in practice the closest in the range to a single rocks. At that size a 40ml neat spirit stays gathered at the base and the aromatics concentrate in the empty volume above, which is what you want if you smell before you drink. The same glass takes two or three standard cubes, or one medium block, so it also handles service on the rocks. It only gets tight with the large 50mm cube, which wants 340ml and up.
Lead-free crystal, and why it counts on a tasting glass
Luxion is lead-free crystal. On a service glass that is mostly about resistance, because it takes commercial washing without clouding; on a tasting glass it is also about the contents, since traditional crystal does contain lead and here the spirit sits in the glass for a long time. Clarity does the rest: on an aged scotch, colour and viscosity are the first things you read, and dull glass hides them. The solid base, typical of the old fashioned family, gives the glass the presence in the hand you expect from something given as a present.

Take the Carrara if
You taste, or you are looking for a gift for someone who drinks well: two glasses are a pair for the table, not a stock. Kitting out a bar wants the packs of six or twelve, which sit at another order of magnitude on cost per glass.
How to serve a spirit in a glass like this
Forty millilitres is the reference pour for a neat tasting, and in 300ml it covers a little more than the base: that is intended. If the spirit goes out with ice, one medium block beats three cubes, because it gives up less water for the same chill. Either way the glass is held by the base and not by the wall, so the hand does not warm the contents.
Care
Luxion takes the dishwasher, but on a tasting glass hand washing has a concrete advantage: no detergent residue. On a cocktail you would not notice it, on a neat spirit it reaches the nose before the first sip and skews the whole drink. Dry with a linen cloth, leaving no drops to evaporate.
FAQ
Why is the pack only two? Because it is a tasting and gift glass. The service lines in the same category sell in sixes and twelves, at a far lower cost per glass.
Is the Carrara dishwasher safe? Yes, Luxion is built for professional washing. By hand you avoid any detergent residue, which shows up on neat spirits.
Does it contain lead? No. It is lead-free crystal, unlike traditional crystal.
Does it work for cocktails as well? Yes. It carries a Negroni or an Old Fashioned served over cubes: what it does not do is volume service, because the pack holds two.
Does a large cube fit? Two or three standard cubes or one medium block, yes. The 50mm cube wants 340ml and up.
The more you buy, the less you pay: 4 packs -5%, 6 -7%, 8 -10%, on the same item.
