Full of ice and liquid, the Zeus goes over a kilo. Above that weight a one-handed shake gets tiring and imprecise, and the right move is two-handed: one hand holds the cap down, the other the base. That is not a limitation, it is the right technique for large shakers, and the safest: a shaker that opens mid-shake empties its contents over whoever is making the drink.

Finishes and the light in the room
Gold, copper and bronze come alive under low, warm light, the light of an evening cocktail bar, and go flat under white office light. Black does not reflect and suits a dark bar; silver is the choice that clashes with nothing. Choose the finish by looking at the lighting in your own room, the only place it will really be seen.
Always wash by hand
The outer finish is plated and the dishwasher attacks it: hot cycles and industrial detergents dull it in patches, for good. Wash by hand with mild soap, rinse and dry straight away. If you need a shaker that goes through the machine with everything else, choose the bare steel version of the same family.
Which strainer it needs
A spring strainer on the mouth of the body, and for drinks served clear a fine strainer held over the glass. On a 900ml shaker the strainer’s flow matters too: straining nearly a litre through a fine mesh takes a few seconds longer, so pour steadily rather than forcing it, which is how ice ends up spilling into the glass.
Two drinks together, with one rule
Shaking for two does not mean shaking twice as long: the time is set by chilling, not quantity, and stretching it only adds dilution. What changes is how you pour. Fill both glasses halfway and then go back to top them up, because the last part of a shake is colder and more diluted than the first: pour one glass at a time and the second guest gets a different drink from the first.
