The Leonardo parisienne shaker in two lines
The Leonardo parisienne shaker is the 550ml Chrono in the hand engraved version: two pieces in 18/10 stainless steel, body and cap, 225mm tall and 350g. No built-in strainer, like every parisienne.
Who it is for
For anyone working in front of the guest on single drinks. Five hundred and fifty millilitres is the capacity of one cocktail with its ice, and the tapered body of the parisienne is the shape an engraving reads best on: there are no steps or edges to break the pattern, which runs unbroken from the base to the shoulder.
The shape the engraving works on
On a pair of tins the motif is split across two pieces that overlap, and half the pattern disappears during the shake; on a cobbler the usable band is interrupted by the step of the strainer. The parisienne is the only one of the three with a continuous surface, visible in full while it works, which is why the Leonardo is the piece in the series where the engraving shows most.

You need a strainer
The parisienne does not filter: after the shake you take off the cap and pour through a hawthorne resting on the mouth, and for clear drinks you add a fine strainer over the glass. Those are two pieces to budget for alongside the shaker, and on a station that has been thought about it pays to take them from the same engraved line.
How to open it without marking it
The cap of a parisienne holds by friction over a wide band, not by an angled wedge: it opens with a few degrees of twist, not with a knock. That is a precaution worth double on a hand worked piece, because a knock given with a tool leaves a dent exactly where the pattern shows. The Leonardo asks for the soft move, which is the one this family was made for anyway.
Three hundred and fifty grams
With 550ml of drink and ice inside you stay under a kilo, which is the limit where a one-handed shake stays precise. That is why this format is the favourite of anyone making drinks out in the room: you work with one hand and keep the other free, and the movement stays controlled even at the end of a long shift.
The three engraved collections
Leonardo, Alchemy and Destiny are the three hand worked lines in the series, registered as European Union designs. The motif changes, not the shaker underneath: the construction, the capacity and the dimensions are the same. The choice is one of subject only, and it pays to keep a single line across the whole station, because three different motifs on the same bar read as a random collection rather than a set.
Care
Hand wash the two pieces separately and dry straight away, with attention to the engraving, where limescale settles and stays. The mating edge between body and cap is the part to watch: that is where the seal lives, and a dent takes it away.
