The measuring jug in two lines
This 500ml stackable measuring jug is the large measure of the bar station: clear, with an embossed scale on the side and a shaped handle that lets one jug nest inside another. Diameter 95mm, height 13.6cm, weight 62g. It is dishwasher safe.
Who it is for
For the bartender who preps before service: syrups, premixes, juices, the batch of a drink for peak service. The jigger measures in millilitres and works at the glass; the measuring jug measures in hundreds of millilitres and works at the bottle. Half a litre makes the base for ten 50ml cocktails, and you can see at a glance how much is left. The spout pours without dripping on the bar top, and the 9cm handle keeps the hand away from a freshly made syrup.

The embossed scale, the reason to buy this one
Budget jugs have a printed scale, and a printed scale washes off: after a month in the dishwasher the numbers are half gone and you measure by eye. Here the scale is moulded into the plastic, so it can be read for as long as the jug exists. On a tool this inexpensive it looks like a detail, and it is the only thing that decides whether it still measures in six months.
The handle is shaped so the jugs stack inside one another. On a back bar shelf, four stacked jugs take the space of one, and in a prep kitchen that uses ten of them it is the difference between a shelf and a drawer.

Half a litre or one litre
The 500ml size is the bar station size: it sits under the bar counter, pours with one hand and measures out a premix or a syrup. For large batches and for the kitchen there is the 1000ml measuring container, which works the same way with twice the capacity. Bars that batch keep both: the litre to prepare, the half litre to measure out.
Choose the measuring jug if
If you make syrups and premixes and need a measure that can still be read after a hundred washes. If you want a table jug to serve water or cocktails on the floor, that sits with the bottles and dispensers: this is a prep tool, not a service piece.
How to read it accurately
Read it on the counter, at eye level, not from above: looking down, the level seems higher than it is, and on 500ml you can be out by 20 or 30ml. Pour dense syrups slowly and let the level settle before reading. After washing, dry the measuring jug upside down, because clear plastic holds droplets and limescale clouds it.
FAQ
Is the measuring jug dishwasher safe? Yes, and that is why the scale is embossed rather than printed.
How many can be stacked? The handle is designed to nest them inside each other: as many as you need, with no declared limit.
What are the scale intervals? It is numbered every 100ml, with an intermediate mark. For large batches there is the one-litre size.
Is it glass? No, it is clear plastic: it does not break if dropped and weighs 62g.
