The Bargiani liqueur glasses in two lines
The Bargiani liqueur glasses are 70ml stemmed glasses in lead-free crystal, blown and finished by hand. They belong to the collection NUDE designed with Giorgio Bargiani, and the maker calls them welcome drink glasses: they are the size for the welcome drink and for short drinks. They are sold in a pack of 6.
Who they are for
For the restaurant and the hotel bar that greet the guest with a welcome drink while the table is being prepared. For the cocktail bar that opens the evening with a taste of the house serve, or pours a small drink between the courses of a pairing menu. For the caterer, who takes the aperitif round on a tray at receptions and has to count glasses by number of guests.
At home they are the small glasses for greeting friends before dinner: a cold vermouth, a cocktail made ahead and kept in the fridge, a liqueur at the end. Six matching glasses, one per guest.

Why liqueur glasses on a stem
A welcome drink is served cold and without ice, and the guest holds it while standing and talking. In a small glass without a stem the fingers rest on the bowl, and within minutes the liquid warms up. The stem keeps the hand away from the bowl: the drink stays at the temperature it left the bar at.
The second reason is capacity. A welcome drink is a small measure. Poured into a 200ml glass it reaches a third of the height, and to the guest it looks like a half-empty glass. In 70ml the same measure fills the bowl.
For whoever runs the venue, 70ml is also a figure that adds up. The glass acts as the measure: nobody can overpour, and the cost of the welcome drink per guest stays the one worked out on the drinks list.
The third reason is the tray. The Bargiani liqueur glasses come in a pack of 6, all the same shape and the same height. From a tray of matching glasses the waiter picks up and sets down without looking, and the room sees an even row.
The fourth is the range. The Bargiani collection has six coordinated pieces, a mixing glass and five glasses on a stem or a foot. The welcome glass shares its design with the one the next cocktail arrives in.

How many packs you need
The count is done on guests. One pack covers a table of six. A reception for 60 people takes 10 packs for a single round, plus a reserve for the glasses coming back from the room while the second tray is already out.
A venue that uses these glasses every evening keeps one extra pack in the stockroom: when a glass goes missing, the set on the tray stays uniform.
The more you buy, the less you pay: 4 packs -5%, 6 -7%, 8 -10%, on the same item. The discount applies automatically in the basket.
Care
The maker gives two pointers. First: wash them with the soft side of the sponge, which keeps the surface free of scratches. Second: after hand washing, dry the inside well, so the crystal stays clear.
Choose these if
You serve a welcome drink or a taster and want a small measure in a glass it fills. For the long aperitif with ice and bubbles there is the Bargiani 330ml spritz glass. For stirred drinks served without ice there is the Bargiani 190ml martini glass, and for making them the Bargiani 530ml mixing glass. The other stemmed models are in the stemmed glasses category.
