The Kyoto Bar 430ml in two lines
The Kyoto Bar 430ml is a tall glass with a plain, Japanese-inspired design, sold in packs of six. At this capacity it goes beyond the collins range into the generous sizes, the ones that take plenty of ice without the liquid rising to the rim.
Who it is for
For bars that want fewer glass models in service. A generous size covers the long drinks and, filled differently, takes the medium ones too without looking empty: it is the reasoning that leads a hotel or a venue with a changing list to keep one tall glass instead of two.
A plain design as a practical choice
No decoration is not a compromise; at this size it is consistency. A 430ml glass is filled with ice, and the ice already breaks up the view through the glass: add a cut and the contents become unreadable, with the colour of the drink lost among reflections. With a smooth wall the whole column reads, from the spear of ice at the bottom to the garnish on top, which on a built long drink is half the presentation.

Choose the Kyoto Bar 430ml if
You want one tall glass that covers the whole list, or you work with plenty of ice. For simple two-ingredient long drinks a 330 or 350ml glass is enough and costs less per glass.
How to fill a generous glass
Ice to the top, always. This is the counter-intuitive part: filling well dilutes less, because a larger cold mass warms more slowly and gives off less water than four cubes floating about. A 430ml glass takes a whole spear of ice plus a handful of cubes to close the gaps, and then the mixer goes on top without the drink reaching the rim. A generous glass half filled is the quickest way to a watery drink that looks thin.
One size or two
At 430ml you cover almost the whole long drinks section, filling the glass differently for each recipe. The limit shows on two-ingredient drinks served short: in a glass this generous a small pour with little tonic looks lost, and the guest reads it as meanness even when the measure is right. Bars with many short recipes add a 330 or 350ml glass and keep the 430ml for built drinks.
Care
Dishwasher safe without special care, and with no decoration to protect. Dry it before putting it away, so no marks show on the smooth wall.
The more you buy, the less you pay: 4 packs -5%, 6 -7%, 8 -10%, on the same item.
FAQ
Does the Kyoto Bar 430ml replace a short glass? No. It is a tall glass for long drinks: for spirit-forward classics served short you need an old fashioned glass.
Why is it called Kyoto Bar? For the Japanese inspiration of the design, plain and without decoration.
Is it too big for a gin and tonic? Not if you serve it with plenty of ice, which is how it should be served anyway.
Is there a short version? Yes, the same line has an old fashioned glass: the same plain design in a short format.
To work out which size your service needs, the tumbler glass category compares the capacities and the drinks each one suits.
