Why highball glasses with a foot
The classic highball is a cylinder that rests its whole base on the bar top and is picked up by the body. With a long drink full of ice the body is the coldest part: the hand warms it and leaves fingerprints on it. This model has a short foot under the body: whoever serves it picks it up there, and the glass reaches the table clean.
Capacity is 370ml. A long drink is made of ice to the rim, the spirit and a long measure of soda or tonic. In a smaller glass the mixer does not all fit, and the small bottle is left half full on the table. Here the drink is finished in the glass.
Height is 15cm. In the tall body the ice stacks vertically and keeps the whole column of the drink cold, from the base to the rim.
