The flower glass in two lines
The flower glass in the lily of the valley design is a 250 millilitre stemmed piece in borosilicate glass, blown by hand, shaped like a flower. The clear bowl is the corolla; the stem and leaves are green glass. It is sold as a decorative item.
The shape of the flower glass
The bowl takes the shape of a flower bell, open at the top. Below, in place of a straight stem, is the green stem, with leaves of coloured glass opening to the sides as a visual support for the corolla.
It is one of the pieces in the family with colour. The green of the stem and leaves stands out from the clear bowl, and the flower glass reads as a flower from a distance, without needing light behind it.
Where the flower glass goes
For spring weddings and receptions, a flower glass in the centre of each table makes the centrepiece without fresh flowers to replace. In a window it carries a seasonal display on its own, from March to June, and 1 May is its day.
On the back-bar shelves, next to floral gins and herbal liqueurs, it adds the colour the labels lack. On photo and video sets it suits natural daylight on a pale background, and it fits a venue with a botanical look.
For collectors and as a gift
Lily of the valley is the flower given to wish good luck. For collectors of novelty glasses it is a piece for display, and as a gift it suits someone who loves flowers more than cocktails.

Hand-blown borosilicate glass
The flower glass is made from borosilicate glass, blown by hand. It is the glass of lampwork, the technique that draws glass into thin threads, curves and details that ordinary tableware glass cannot hold. Blown by hand also means each piece has small differences in its curves and thickness: two pieces side by side are not identical to the millimetre, and that is the mark of the work.
The green of the stem stands out on any background, while the clear bowl works with the light behind it: in front of a backlit back bar or under a display spotlight its outline lights up at the edges.
Where the flower glass is displayed
The flower glass belongs to the family of decorative glasses in hand-blown glass. Its place is the back bar, the window display, the centrepiece, the set: whoever fits out a venue or an event puts it where it is seen.
For a display with several identical pieces the site’s rule applies. The more you buy, the less you pay: 4 pieces -5%, on the same item. The discount applies automatically in the basket.
Care
Hold it by the bowl or the base of the stem, without levering on the leaves, which are the thinnest parts. A dry microfibre cloth is enough for dust.
