The vampire glass in two lines
The vampire glass is a 100 millilitre conical bowl in clear borosilicate glass, blown by hand. A glass straw starts from the base of the bowl, coils into a spiral and rises past the rim. It is sold as a decorative item.
The shape of the vampire glass
The top is a small cone, the outline of a Martini glass in a reduced size. The part that makes the piece is the straw: a glass tube that starts from the base of the bowl, coils into a spiral and rises beside the bowl until it clears the rim.
The name comes from there: the straw that rises from the bottom is the detail of vampire-themed glasses. The vampire glass is also the lowest-priced piece in the family, the one to start from for a display with several pieces.
Where the vampire glass goes
Halloween is its calendar. A row of vampire glasses on the back bar, under a red light, sets the scene for the night at a contained cost, and the glass is put away and comes back the following year. The same goes for gothic nights, Dracula-themed parties and horror screenings.
On photo and video sets the spiral draws a line the eye follows from bottom to top, and it is an easy subject for short-form content. As a centrepiece, use two or three together, because one piece on its own is small.
For collectors and as a gift
For collectors of novelty glasses it is the entry piece of the family, and for a Halloween gift it is the one that costs least. The more you buy, the less you pay applies here too, for anyone who wants a small group.

Hand-blown borosilicate glass
The vampire glass is made from clear borosilicate glass, blown by hand. It is the glass of lampwork, the technique that draws glass into thin threads, curves and details that ordinary tableware glass cannot hold. Blown by hand also means each piece has small differences in its curves and thickness: two pieces side by side are not identical to the millimetre, and that is the mark of the work.
Clear glass works with the light behind it. In front of a backlit back bar or under a display spotlight the outline lights up at the edges; on a black background, in a photo, it becomes a drawing.
Where the vampire glass is displayed
The vampire glass belongs to the family of decorative glasses in hand-blown glass. Its place is the back bar, the window display, the centrepiece, the set: whoever fits out a venue or an event puts it where it is seen.
For a display with several identical pieces the site’s rule applies. The more you buy, the less you pay: 4 pieces -5%, on the same item. The discount applies automatically in the basket.
Care
Lift it by the bowl, without levering on the spiral, which is a thin glass tube joined to the piece. A dry microfibre cloth is enough for dust.
