The jellyfish glass in two lines
The jellyfish glass is a 150 millilitre conical bowl in clear borosilicate glass, blown by hand. In place of a straight stem it has a bundle of glass tentacles that run down from the bowl and hold it up. It is sold as a decorative item, for dressing back bars, window displays, sets and events.
The shape of the jellyfish glass
The top is the wide, shallow cone that bars call a Martini glass. Below, where the stem would be, the tentacles leave the base of the bowl and wave down to the surface. Seen from the side, the jellyfish glass has the outline of the animal: the bell on top, the filaments below.
The tentacles are what gets the piece noticed, and also the thinnest part of the glass. The empty, clear bowl lets you see through it, so the pattern of the tentacles reads from every side.
Where the jellyfish glass goes
On the back bar the jellyfish glass goes on the shelf nearest the light: with a blue LED strip from below, the tentacles take the colour and the bowl stays clear. It is a display that reads from across the room, without coming up to the bar counter.
For an ocean-themed night or a summer party, four pieces in a row on the back bar set the scene without taking space from the bottles. On photo and video sets it works on a dark background, where the tentacles draw sharp lines, and it is a subject that whoever shoots content for the venue’s social channels comes back to.
For collectors and as a gift
For collectors of barware the jellyfish glass is one of the novelty glasses you do not find in a dinner service. It comes as a single piece, and it can stand alone on a shelf or next to a collection of coupes.

Hand-blown borosilicate glass
The jellyfish glass is made from clear borosilicate glass, blown by hand. It is the glass of lampwork, the technique that draws glass into thin threads, curves and details that ordinary tableware glass cannot hold. Blown by hand also means each piece has small differences in its curves and thickness: two pieces side by side are not identical to the millimetre, and that is the mark of the work.
Clear glass works with the light behind it. In front of a backlit back bar or under a display spotlight the outline lights up at the edges; on a black background, in a photo, it becomes a drawing.
Where the jellyfish glass is displayed
The jellyfish glass belongs to the family of decorative glasses in hand-blown glass. Its place is the back bar, the window display, the centrepiece, the set: whoever fits out a venue or an event puts it where it is seen.
For a display with several identical pieces the site’s rule applies. The more you buy, the less you pay: 4 pieces -5%, on the same item. The discount applies automatically in the basket.
Care
Lift it by the bowl, not by the tentacles, and stand it on a flat, stable surface. A dry microfibre cloth is enough for dust.
