The 150ml snack bowls, in brief
The Friendly snack bowls by APS are the large size in the range: 10cm in diameter, 4.5cm high, 150ml. They are white, in post-consumer recycled PET, stackable and dishwasher safe. They are sold in a pack of 6.
Why a bar needs them
The crisp bowl is the piece of tableware a bar breaks most. It leaves the bar with every spritz, comes back stacked on the tray with glasses on top, and goes through the dishwasher dozens of times in an evening. In glass or ceramic, a few are missing every week.
These are rigid plastic and weigh little. The waiter carries six stacked in one hand, and in the rush the bartender fills them in a row on the bar top without the noise and the risk of ceramic. At the end of the shift they are counted, and the number is the one from the start.

What goes in 150ml snack bowls
As a guide to use, not a figure from the manufacturer: crisps or pretzels for two, a portion of popcorn, olives for a table of three. A hundred and fifty millilitres is three times the 50ml bowls in the range, which are single portions.
The 10cm diameter lets a whole hand in, which is why crisps are served here and not in a narrow bowl. The 4.5cm height keeps the contents below the rim on the way to the table. Filling the bowls to the same level every time is the simplest way to give each table the same amount, and to know how many bags a Saturday uses.

Recycled PET in place of glass and ceramic
APS declares the Friendly collection as post-consumer recycled PET: plastic collected after a first use and turned into tableware, recyclable once more at the end of its life. Behind the bar the useful fact is that it is rigid plastic. A bowl that slips from a tray between two tables is picked up and washed, and the floor stays open: no shards under the chairs, no broom.
The monthly stock count tells the same story. Small porcelain is what a venue loses most, because it chips in the rack and goes out with the napkins. A PET bowl is cheaper to replace, and since Friendly is a continuing range in the APS catalogue, the same shape and the same code are there to reorder in eight months.
Care
The manufacturer declares the bowls dishwasher safe and unsuitable for the microwave. They are not made for heating: what is served hot is heated elsewhere and added afterwards. They nest between washes, which APS also declares, so a stack on the back bar takes up the footprint of one bowl.
Pack of 6
The price is for the pack of six bowls. Allow one bowl for every two seats, plus a second set for the dishwasher cycle: a forty-seat venue works with forty bowls, which is seven packs.
The more you buy, the less you pay: 4 packs -5%, 6 -7%, 8 -10%, on the same item. The discount applies automatically in the basket.
White or black
White shows at once whether a bowl is clean, an advantage for anyone checking the floor at a glance. It sits with pale tables and daytime trade. The same size comes in black: the 150ml black bowls. The trays for bar garnishes are in the garnish trays and condiment holders category.
At home
For a Sunday spritz these bowls do the job of the kitchen bowls, in a size that fits on a side table. One for every two people with crisps or pretzels, and if one lands on the terrace floor it is picked up whole.
