The Cocktails 500ml is a 500ml stemmed glass in Luxion eco crystal from the Timeless line, in packs of four. It is the only wide size in the category sold in fours, and the pack says who it is meant for.
Who it is for
For bars with few drinks that call for a large stemmed glass. If spritz and long aperitifs are two or three lines on the list and not the heart of the service, buying six or twelve half-litre glasses means leaving half of them on the shelf: four cover those lines and free up space and capital for the rest of the set.
The pack of four as a stockroom decision
On large formats the number of pieces weighs more than on small ones, for a physical reason before an economic one: a 500ml glass takes about twice the room of a 250ml in the basket and on the shelf. On a tight bar counter, four pieces more or less decide whether a shelf row stays free. Half a litre, and how it fills
Like every wide format, it takes ice before it takes liquid. 500ml of capacity means a working serve of around 250ml, because the other half is ice, and that is how it should be: a larger cold mass warms more slowly and gives up less water. A large glass half filled with liquid alone is the quickest route to a warm drink that looks poor as well.
Care
Dishwasher without clouding. Wide bowls want spacing in the basket and a row of their own: rim touching rim during the cycle is the most common cause of chips. Careful drying on the plain surface.
Cost per piece on small packs
On smaller packs the price per piece usually rises, and it is worth checking against the list rather than assuming. On the Cocktails 500ml, though, the right question is another one: how many half-litre stemmed glasses you actually need. Buying four that all go out at peak service beats buying twelve of which eight sit on a shelf that was needed for something else.
