Gift card 1000 euro: why a counter is chosen, not given
Because at a thousand euro you are buying counters, and a counter is chosen on the measurements: how much room there is in the van, how much in the store, whether the basin is needed, whether one person will be building it alone. Those are constraints only the person who will work on that counter knows.
Who buys it
This is the company denomination. A business rewarding a member of staff, a supplier thanking a customer, a group putting an amount together for someone opening a venue. In every one of those cases the money is on one side and the knowledge to choose is on the other.
It has a less obvious use as well: as credit against a project. Anyone fitting out a venue buys in stages, and a large card lets them order when the works call for it instead of when the gift arrives.

Once payment is confirmed the card is generated and sent by email with its code. Print it and hand it over, or forward it to whoever it is for: there is nothing to wait for in the post.
How the credit is used
The code goes in at the time of the order and the credit comes off the total. It is not a discount: the money is already paid, so it counts across the whole catalogue, promotions included, and it covers delivery too.
- What you do not spend stays on the card. It gets used on another order, and another after that, while there is credit left.
- The credit does not expire. No date, no rush to spend it.
- More than one gift card can be used on the same order.
- If the credit covers everything, you choose Gift card at the checkout and there is nothing left to pay. If it covers part, the difference is paid with the usual checkout methods.
- It belongs to whoever holds the code: the person receiving it does not need an account to spend it.
Anyone who does have an account adds the code on the Gift card page of their profile, and from there sees what is left and where it has been used.
VAT
A thousand euro paid is a thousand euro of credit. No VAT is applied to the card: it is paid on what you buy, as on any order. That is why the price on the page is exactly the value of the card.
